Painting In Response

Our work should capture our response to our subject and provoke that same reaction within the viewer. Our understanding and creative interpretation of our subject not only should draw the viewer into the work but they should see and go away knowing something more about you, the artist. The greatest example of this is found in the book of Genesis.

And God saw every thing that he had made, and behold, it was very good - Genesis 1:31

Today I look at the works of God’s hand and my response can be said with one word, awesome. The scripture says that in the beginning; the earth was without form, and void. God first envisioned it, and then spoke what we now see into existence. I look at what God had envisioned then created and in studying and viewing His creation His work of art; I have seen and have come to know the greatness of Him.

The true work of art is but a shadow of the divine perfection. - Michelangelo
