Dennis K Smith grew up in the small farming community of Harrow, Ontario, Canada.  It is those quiet imaginative years and his faith in God that allows for a certain serenity to flow throughout his works.  His simplistic and honest rendering of his subjects changes what many view as the mundane or ordinary and elevates it to art.

His foremost medium is acrylics but his use of the different mediums shows the diversity of his talent.  He approaches each painting differently from the last, trying to select the medium and application that will best communicate visually what he wants to convey.

My need in life is not to develop a new approach to painting, but rather approach life as something worth painting.  There is a painting in everything we see; and in all that is seen, there's still much more to be revealed.

A successful work of art should visually communicate the heart and soul of the artist.  Is should stir the imagination of the viewer, but above all it should demand a response.

That is my goal: to capture the spirit of my subject and provoke a response.  This is done not by rendering an exact likeness of my subject, but by artistically reacting to what I am seeing and feeling then visually passing on that response to the viewer.

He has exhibited in juried shows, group and solo exhibitions.
